In the late sixties a group of Wirral doctors and dentist decided that to support their continuing professional education a dedicated postgraduate medical centre was necessary. It was decided that the most appropriate place on Wirral would be at Clatterbridge Hospital, and after securing the lease of a parcel of land fundraising began. Many social and education events were organized, local industry, businesses, hospital and regional management boards were approached and in 1972 Wirral Postgraduate Medical Centre was opened by Lord Rosenheim.

The Centre has flourished over the years under the guardianship of the Trustees who rely on donations, gift aid, income generation, and Wirral Hospital Trust to maintain the building and its contents.

In 1997 the Trustees together with the general practitioner tutor, dental tutors and clinical tutors held a week of educational events with guest speakers including Dr. Vivienne Nathanson daughter of an original Trustee and Sir Donald Irvine, President of the General Medical Council and several social events hosted by the Chairman to celebrate twenty five years.

We are now looking forward to the future with the immense changes taking place with modernizing medical careers and with a modernized Trust Deed embracing all healthcare professionals.
